IPv6 — included by default
Every PhotonSpark service ships with a /128 IPv6 address. On request we allocate a /64 free of charge for services that support it (VPS, dedicated, colocation).
Why a /64 matters: lots of operating systems and applications expect a full /64 for things like SLAAC, multi-subnet routing inside a single host, or per-container addressing.
Extra IPv4
IPv4 is a constrained resource. We charge a small monthly fee per additional address. Available options:
- Single extra IP — for SSL with no SNI, or strict per-service-per-IP requirements.
- Small block (/30, /29) — for routed setups inside a single host.
- Larger block (/28 and up) — requires RIPE justification (what you will use it for, plus a usage plan for the next 6 months).
We do not sell or lease IP addresses standalone. Allocations are tied to active services and are reclaimed when the service is closed.
PTR / reverse DNS
We set PTR records for any IP we allocate to you. Configure them via Portal → Network → Reverse DNS. PTR for IPv6 is the same form, with the long colon-expanded reverse name.
Geolocation
If your service depends on the IP's geolocation reading correctly (e.g. you serve Romanian customers and need the IP to be in RO), tell us during onboarding. Most IPs we issue are Bucharest-geolocated, but some are Frankfurt — we will pick correctly if you ask.
